Type a topic, a character, or a world into the Studio prompt bar — or start from a profile like Bookworm, Researcher, or Wanderer.

It gets written

Your chosen engine — your own Anthropic key, or a local agent on your machine — drafts the manuscript, chapter by chapter.

It lands in your Library as a real book: distraction-free reader, adjustable type, a theme suited to how you read.

Your key stays yours.

Book Gent doesn't run its own AI service or hold your data. Cloud Synthesis calls Anthropic directly, using an API key you provide in Settings — the request goes from your machine to Anthropic's, nowhere else. Prefer not to use a key at all? Local Engine generates with an agent running entirely on your own computer.

First launch on macOS

Book Gent isn't notarized by Apple yet, so Gatekeeper will flag it once. Right-click the app and choose Open — after that, it opens normally. If macOS calls it "damaged," it isn't: run xattr -cr /path/to/book_gent.app in Terminal. Full steps are in the download.
